About the Framers

Brad Cress

As a lifetime Terre Haute resident, spending most of my working career behind a counter, chances are pretty good we've met at least once. I truly enjoy the customer interaction. I've been custom framing for 30 years, and every day, there is still a new challenge.

I have been a Certified Picture Framer since 1990. This achievement involved many hours of study, as well as a written and hands-on test on the proper care and preservation of all types of art and objects. I believe that's what sets Golden Frame custom framing apart from the box retailers.

I enjoy custom framing because it is truly a job that uses both side of my brain, from the creative, artistic side to the technical side. I've hardly ever seen the same thing twice. Over the years I've framed anything and everything imaginable. My motto is, "If you can fit it through the door, we can frame it."

I look forward to meeting you and working on your project. Let's see what we can do!

Todd Stokes

After graduating with honors in 1983 from the School of Fine Arts at Indiana State University, Todd Stokes moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Todd gained employment at a local frame shop/art gallery called Tyler’s Gallery, owned by the artist/entrepreneur, Tyler Guthrie.

Mr. Guthrie’s approach to framing was simple - give the framing concept as much thought and consideration as an artist would give to a piece of art. Todd learned the art of picture framing from Tyler and worked to become the manager of Tyler’s Gallery in 1989.

In January of 1992, Todd was offered the opportunity to work with his father, Gene Stokes, and grow his own framing business. Golden Frame came to be known as the “go-to” frame shop in Terre Haute, offering services that the others didn’t, such as on-site consultation, free pick-up and delivery, as well as offering professional installation services.

Todd brings an interesting skill set to the table. As an artist with a two and three dimensional background, he has the tools necessary to create lasting styles that complement and enhance all types of art.
